How EdenMind works
EdenMind is a flashcard app you answer out loud.
Voice grading
You read the question and say the answer. Speech recognition and grading both run on your phone. If what you said is close enough to the answer, the card advances on its own. Otherwise EdenMind shows you the answer with a grade already selected, and you keep it or change it.
The point is that the grade comes from what you said, not from your opinion of how you did. Saying an answer also fixes it in memory better than thinking it. Psychologists call that the production effect.
Voice grading is English only.
Scheduling
Reviews are scheduled with FSRS. It uses your history with each card to pick the next date, so a card you keep getting right comes back less often, and one you miss comes back sooner.
Privacy
Voice review uses your microphone. The audio is processed in memory. It is never written to a file, never sent to us, and never shared with anyone.
Audio episodes work the other way round: a PDF’s text goes to the server, which writes and speaks the episode and stores it with your account. That is generated audio, not anything you said.
Your cards and your review history are a different matter: they sync to your account so the app works on more than one device. You can delete your account, and its data, from Settings.
What you can study
EdenMind comes with topics across mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, psychology and society, written for an adult with no prerequisites.
You can also make your own. Type the questions in, photograph a page with your phone, or upload a PDF here on the web and generate questions from it. Your own topics are editable; the ones that ship with the app are not.
